    New BMW M Models Will Keep Rear-Wheel Drivetrain KM

    We hate to spoil the fun, BMW fans, but no new BMW M models will be featuring all-wheel drive anytime soon. According to BMW M head Friedrich Nitschke, rear-wheel drive is the best solution for this lineup of vehicles.

    In fact, Nitschke cites a weight penalty of up to 198 lbs. for the company's all-wheel drive system, which would make the car much heavier and impact performance quite a bit.
