What’s the difference between the 2021 BMW 2 Series and the Lexus IS? That’s just the question we want to answer for our Pensacola, Myrtle Grove, and Cantonment, Florida, readers! From body style to in-car technology, there’s so much that makes each model unique.
You know you can expect a thrilling performance from the BMW and classy refinement from the Lexus, but which model comes out on top? Discover that for yourself and contact us at Sandy Sansing BMW to learn more!
The first major difference between the 2021 2 Series and the IS are their available body styles. The Lexus IS is only available as a sport sedan, but you can choose among three styles for the BMW 2 Series:
The Gran Coupe is similar to a sedan—four doors, seats five—and offers adult-friendly second-row seats, plus some of the most impressive cargo space you’ll find in a small luxury car at 15.1 cubic feet. In the Lexus IS, you’ll have just 10.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk.
The 2 Series Coupe and the 2 Series Convertible offer seating for four people. The seats in the Convertible use sun-reflective technology so they don’t absorb all the sunlight and heat up while you’re on the go.
You may be surprised by how much power the BMW 2 Series and the Lexus IS have in store. These two cars run on turbocharged 4-cylinder engines that match each other in torque output with 258 lb-ft.
All that torque means you’ll see impressive acceleration straight off the line. If you want more powerful engines, though, the BMW 2 Series comes out ahead. The performance-inspired BMW M235i features a TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with 331 lb-ft of torque on tap. The Lexus IS tops out at 280 lb-ft of torque.
Should you choose the M-inspired BMW, you’ll have all sorts of performance enhancements unmatched by the Lexus. These include the M Sport brakes and suspension, plus a limited-slip differential.
Want a better way to stay connected from the cabin of your car? The 2021 2 Series and the IS offer plenty of technology, including standard infotainment systems with wide display screens.
However, the BMW 2 Series has one distinct advantage over the Lexus IS: the available Live Cockpit Professional with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. You can use it to display your navigation directions and other essential driving data, all within your line of sight.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe and the IS both make Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ standard. You can link up a compatible smartphone and access your most important apps from the road!
The 2021 BMW 2 Series and the Lexus IS both excel across the board when it comes to style. However, the appeal of the performance features and variety of body styles in the 2 Series may help it come out ahead.
Pensacola, Myrtle Grove, and Cantonment, FL, shoppers can take a closer look here at our showroom. If the 2 Series appeals to you, schedule a test drive today at Sandy Sansing BMW!
